Over nine years ago, we first met at work. We both work in mental health, and I was employed as a new mental health tech in our behavioral health facility in Ohio after moving here from California. I remember seeing him for the first time, and my jaw dropped to the floor, and I felt butterflies in my stomach. I instantly texted my best buddy to tell her about the new coworker who had just arrived. I panicked like a teenager because he was so attractive, and I wasn’t sure how to act or say anything. I immediately discovered he wasn’t available, so I had to dismiss the thought as soon as it entered my head. As the years passed, we developed into wonderful friends and colleagues. We are each other’s best friends and have the ideal relationship because of our extraordinary friendship. We both believe it is this way because we were fantastic employees and teammates in our profession for so long and developed a terrific connection. A few years into our relationship, Josh proposed…
And since you want to know the story… I’ll share it with you!
We celebrated a friend’s birthday at a sports bar the night before he proposed. The next day, I went to get my nails done, and Josh gathered things and arranged the proposal location with our friend. He was already there when I got home, acting as if he had been there for hours when he had only been there for a few minutes. Josh then mentioned pasta for dinner, and I am always down for pasta. We went out to dinner, and I remember thinking, “Is he going to propose? No, he should not do that in a restaurant.” After dinner, he asked if I wanted to walk through Cox Arboretum, a site we used to visit at the beginning of our relationship. This was also not odd, as we still frequent the area and like walking our dogs there. So I was ready to go right away, dog-free for the evening. Then we went to an enclosed garden portion, where I spotted a lovely arrangement of candles, flowers, and other items. “Let’s go check it out!” he exclaimed. Next thing I know, we’ve made it to the setup, and he’s down on one knee. While he was saying something I can’t recall, I was distracted by our same friend who helped him put everything up because he was actually ROLLING around in the grass shooting pictures. It was an absolutely perfect proposal in my eyes. He had never actually asked me to be his girlfriend, so in his proposal (one of the few things I do remember, lol) is that he asked me to be his girlfriend and wife.
It was the most incredible day ever! Seriously, we were on Cloud 9 all day with how perfect the day was. And thanks to Ramble Creek and their excellent staff, along with all our wedding party, family, photographers, and videographers… everyone made the day perfect. My husband and I still talked about how it was easily the best day, with how smooth everything went, how much fun everyone had, how beautiful it was, the food was terrific, and we just spent every minute feeling so grateful. I married my best friend, and sharing and showing love with our favorite people was incredible. And it never would have gotten to be this fantastic day and experience if it were not for the owner of Ramble Creek guiding me and planning with me every step of the way! We will never forget how special we felt. We laughed, we cried, we danced, and I will NEVER FORGET how my husband left his comfort zone to provide an epic “Magic Mike” type of garter dance! Every moment was so special, and I had never felt so beautiful. I have always feared that I would not feel pretty on my wedding day or that I could not find the right dress… but let me tell you, it was all perfect, and I felt so beautiful in my dress.
It was a great visit to Bridal & Formal! I had the best time, and the dress I chose was the first one I tried on. It was seriously my DREAM DRESS. I had the best sales consultant too. I swear she was my hype woman. She was so kind, so helpful, and offered great suggestions. It was such a fun time, and the place was so beautiful inside that it made you feel like a bride-to-be.
I got lucky with the best bridal stylist! I genuinely mean that. Iris was so much fun and so incredibly helpful. She found unique dresses for me to try on, helped me narrow them down, and didn’t even bat an eye when I wanted to retry on two dresses 6 times back-to-back. Iris hyped me up the entire way and gave me incredible suggestions and opinions that I never would have thought of, and it all helped me go right back to the first dress I tried on that I truly fell in love with… and felt so beautiful on our wedding day. I will never forget her because she helped me find the perfect dress I feared would never see.
