On the weekend, Brad and Lindsey got engaged; they had just returned from Georgia after visiting Lindsey’s brother, who had graduated from Ranger school in the army. Lindsey vividly recalls removing all her gel nails that weekend, which Brad commented on. Surprisingly, he took Lindsey to the mall on Sunday to get her nails done, which didn’t raise any suspicions. Later that day, they had plans to meet his large family at The Venue in Mount Orab, his hometown. Brad told Lindsey they were celebrating Mother’s Day that Sunday, but she wasn’t sure why he was so particular about what Lindsey wore and anxious about getting there on time. During the car ride, he put on their song, Morgan Wallen’s “Cover Me Up,” which was also their first dance song. Lindsey became suspicious when he asked her, “What do you wanna listen to?” Lindsey replied, “This is fine.” When they arrived, she noticed only a few cars in the parking lot, none of which she recognized. They entered the side entrance, and Lindsey saw a petal-shaped heart made up of balloons and flowers. She kept saying, “Are you kidding me?” repeatedly. Brad led Lindsey to the middle of the heart and asked her the only question she was expecting: “Will you let me keep your feet warm for the rest of our lives?” Lindsey & Bradley’s family hid in the background; he had even hired a photographer to capture everything. Afterward, they returned to his parents’ house and celebrated some more.
Lindsey started her day at her mom’s salon, where she worked as a hairstylist. All her friends gathered there to get their hair and makeup done. Seeing everyone come together at the salon was fascinating, something Lindsey’s mom had worked hard to achieve. Her mom styled her hair, her mother-in-law’s, and the bride’s. The other girls from the salon helped with the rest of the bridal party’s hair. After lunch and some champagne, they all went to the dedicated room where Lindsey dressed and her photographer, Amanda, took pictures. During their first look, Lindsey’s bridesmaids saw her wedding dress for the first time that day, which made it extra special. Then, they all got on the bus and headed to the church. Before the ceremony, Lindsey had a first look at her dad, which was a very touching moment.
Meanwhile, Brad and the groomsmen had already arrived at the church. Since both Lindsey and Brad come from large Catholic families, the church was filled to the brim. They had a traditional mass, which made it even more meaningful when the Catholics received the body of Christ. Lindsey’s favorite part of the ceremony was when they honored the statue of Mary to the tune of “Ave Maria.” They also had their mothers light a unity candle and present white roses to Mary and their mothers. The two priests who officiated the mass were actually their great-uncles. Brad’s great-uncle, Father John, had married most of his family, including his parents. Lindsey’s great uncle, Father Fred, had traveled from Notre Dame in Indiana to attend the ceremony.
After the ceremony, Lindsey and Brad went to take their pictures at P&G Gardens. Unfortunately, there was a hurricane down in Florida that weekend (Hurricane Ian), so significant winds made it a little chilly but perfect for the flow of Lindsey’s veil. After the photo session, they headed to the reception. They entered the reception with the song “Welcome to the Jungle,” as they are huge Bengals fans. They then had a flip-cup match with their bridesmaids and groomsmen. Brad and Lindsey ended up facing off, but the bridesmaids won. Then, the guests sat down for dinner at the beautiful sunset view of the Great American Insurance building. After dinner, there were speeches, and Lindsey and Brad had their first dance. Since the reception was outside, they were worried about the hurricane rain. However, fortunately, the rain missed them. Lindsey felt a few raindrops on her face during her dad’s speech, which she thought was lovely. Brad had his first dance with his mom, and Lindsey had hers with her dad. They surprised everyone with a breakdance. After that, they had an open dance floor with the best DJ, who kept everyone dancing until the night’s end. They closed the place with several “shoeies” and a “Das boot” chugging event. Lindsey and Brad sent their guests off at the night’s end with a sparkler exit. But they weren’t ready to end the night yet and headed to Holy Grail and the casino to keep the party going.
My experience at Bridal & Formal was terrific. I had a sales consultant named Dani, who was so helpful that I recommended her to several friends. Interestingly, my maid of honor, who happens to be my best friend, has a little sister who works at Bridal & Formal. She was the one who actually picked out my dress. It was called Harmony, which perfectly matched my best friend’s last name – Harmon. I was so emotional that I cried in the dressing room. Although the mothers with us didn’t seem to love the dress, I was over the moon. It was different from my usual style, which made it even more perfect. Dani was so supportive and kept hyping me up. Even though we left to try on more dresses, I couldn’t stop thinking about Harmony. We returned later that day, and I said yes to the dress after trying it on again. To celebrate, my MIL, mom, best friend, and I shared glasses of champagne out of some red solo cups in the parking lot. This is a memory that will always stay with me.
