Lauryn and John first met through mutual friends at Hanover College in 2016. They bonded over their love for movies, theater, and the outdoors. Despite being in a long-distance relationship for two years, they eventually moved in together in Kentucky and adopted a cat named Alex. John planned to surprise Lauryn on their four-year anniversary with a proposal, but she found the ring early. Despite the hiccup, he proposed at the University of Kentucky Arboretum in a romantic moment, and Lauryn said a big “YES!”
Lauryn and John had a small and lovely wedding with about 65 of their closest family and friends. They had a beautiful ceremony where Lauryn’s uncle, also a fan of The Princess Bride, officiated and included some references to the movie. The couple exchanged heartfelt vows, and there wasn’t a dry eye in the room after John’s moving words. They also had a special ring ceremony where all the guests got to hold the rings and say a little prayer over them.
The venue was stunning, and they had a fun outdoor photo session, yard games, a cozy fire with s’mores, and even a taco truck for catering. Their first dance was to a beautiful song from the movie La La Land. It was a bit chilly that evening, so they wrapped up the celebration a bit earlier than planned, but overall, Lauryn and John had a fantastic time celebrating with their loved ones!
I went to another store before visiting Bridal & Formal, and I had plans to see two other stores after I visited Bridal & Formal. However, those other visits were canceled because I fell in love with my dress when I tried it. My consultant, Lacrecia, asked for my vision, which was elegant, ethereal, and fairy with lots of tulle. We went in the back; Lacrecia pulled some dresses, and I pulled some. When we got back, she looked at what we had pulled and said, “Hold on, we just got another dress that I think you would love,” she was right! I can’t remember if I tried on any other dresses before the dress I chose. I just remember putting it on and feeling beautiful! After that, none of the other dresses existed. We then put the sleeves and the veil on, and I knew.
When I went to pick it up, I had issues figuring out how to put it on. Whoever helped me then was very kind. She also showed me how to hang it up, so I didn’t damage it.
I also used the seamstress recommended to me in Lexington, KY. She did an amazing job, and the dress fit beautifully.
