Our wedding was in Newark, OH – Abby’s hometown. We say that our “COVID wedding” went about as perfectly as it could have gone. We kept our original date, but a lot of things changed. We had about 200 people less than we originally planned for, had to rearrange the seating chart at least 50 times, but we rolled with every punch to have the best day! Our day started with getting ready at our reception venue – Cherry Valley Hotel. Ryan’s family and many of our friends are from Louisville, KY, so we wanted our venue to serve as the place to stay, too! The forecast called for rain all day, but we lucked out with just a few showers but mainly clear sky! Our ceremony was at 2:00 at St Francis and was beautiful. We say the sun shined into the church at the perfect time – as Abby walked down the aisle with her dad. After the ceremony, we stopped in downtown Newark to take some photos by the historic courthouse, some of our favorite images. We had a “socially distanced” reception at Cherry Valley Hotel. Each table was “one household only,” so we had quite a few 2 person tables! It was quite the sight, but our guests still had a blast. Although our guests were not allowed to dance, we could do our first dance and dances with the father of the bride/mother of the groom. Abby’s dad also performed a song he had written about a father’s love for his daughter – there weren’t many dry eyes in the room. Dinner was delicious, and the drinks were ice cold! In our opinion- there’s not much more you need! It was the perfect night. It was very different than we imagined, but it was perfect.
