I woke up to heavy rain on my wedding day, which is not what any bride would wish for when they want to have an outdoor ceremony. My wedding coordinator and I had already discussed what we would do, so I knew a plan was in place. We had luck on our side, though, and by the time hair and makeup were complete, the sun was out! I met my groom at one of my favorite places in Wilmington to do our first look, which is this gorgeous garden gives all the southern charm feels that I love. I was so excited to do my first look with my dad, brother, and, most importantly, groom. It was amazing to be in this beautiful setting surrounded by so many people we loved, and we were not even married yet! We finished up our pictures with the bridal party and our immediate family to head to our venue to prepare for the ceremony. Under an oak tree covered with moss, we were married by one of our closest friends in front of 80 people, who all played particular parts in our lives. I know everyone says it was the best day of their life, but it is true. Your wedding day is something you dream about all your life. Your vision of what it will be like and what it will look like when you marry your best friend. Our wedding was everything I hoped for, including the fantastic time we had at our reception. At the end of the night, our final song was Take Me Home, Country Roads by Jon Denver, where all our family and friends circled us to sing at the top of their lungs. (It is a West Virginia thing, and even though we no longer live there, we are still proud of where we are from and know those country roads will always bring us home.) The final touch on our special day was a sparkler send-off that ended the night on such a high. Our wedding day was full of love for everyone who came to celebrate two people’s joining.
I was on the hunt to find my perfect dress, and I wanted to have my mom there to be part of the experience. On a last-minute decision, after talking to my sister-in-law about my luck with places close to home, she mentioned the bridal district in Cincinnati. It was the best decision I could have made! I got paired with an excellent bridal consultant who understood precisely what I was looking for in my wedding gown. I wanted a fitted dress with lace, beading, and a beautiful train, and with that description alone, she pulled lots of dresses for me to try. The designer options are unbelievable at this store, and the best part was they had the top three designers I had been looking at online. I ended up with an Eddy K dress, the designer I loved that few stores carry. I had an enjoyable experience, and I am so grateful to have worked with the beautiful people at Bridal and Formal! I would recommend them to any future bride!
Katelyn was knowledgeable of all the designers and knew what to pull when I would describe what I liked with each dress I tried on. It was like she knew me even though we were strangers. I felt so at ease, and the visit was perfect because I never felt like she strayed away from the vision that I described in what I wanted in my dress.
