The Proposal

of

Alexandra & Matthew

Matthew and Alexandra’s love story started when they met at the University of Louisville’s J.B. Speed School of Engineering. You know what’s amazing? Alexandra’s bridesmaid, Ashley, introduced them; the rest is history! They started as friends and quickly realized they couldn’t be without each other. They bonded over late-night study sessions, sporting events, singing along to tunes in the car, and dancing their hearts out with their friends. They’ve been through a lot together, from moving cities to earning degrees and even adopting dogs. But their love has never wavered, and they’re thrilled to share their joy with all of you!
Here’s the fun part: Matthew wanted to surprise Alexandra, which is no easy feat, but he managed to pull it off! He made a reservation at their favorite restaurant, where they’ve celebrated countless anniversaries. To make the proposal even more unique, Alexandra’s parents told her they were going out for dinner to celebrate their wedding anniversary. Meanwhile, Matthew flew into Cincinnati and was picked up by Alexandra’s brother, Mackenzie. When they arrived at the restaurant, they were seated at a table, and her parents snuck away. While they were sitting alone, the band started playing their song, and Alexandra knew something was up. But she didn’t want to spoil the surprise by looking back, so Matthew had to whisper “psst Ali” to get her attention. When she turned around, he told her how much he loved her, and they exchanged hugs and kisses. But that wasn’t the end of it! After dinner, they drove home to find both their families waiting with champagne and sweet treats, ready to celebrate their engagement and the union of their families.

The Wedding

of

Alexandra & Matthew

Alexandra and Matthew’s wedding day was a true dream! From the moment Alexandra woke up, she was showered with love and mimosas, and as time passed, her heart raced with anticipation of seeing her future husband, Matthew. They both decided to wait until Alexandra walked down the aisle to see each other for the first time, and the vendors, including photographers, videographers, and hair/makeup artists, were terrific in making the day go seamlessly. Everything was set for their special day, and Alexandra couldn’t have asked for better vendors.

As it was time for Alexandra and her dad to make their way to the Cathedral, their driver was waiting outside Hotel Covington. When the doors were open, she spotted Matthew waiting at the altar, but luckily, she quickly ducked to avoid spoiling the surprise. As Alexandra hid on the opposite side of the church, she could hear all the music selections they had made, and it was everything she could have hoped for and more.
The ceremony was beautiful, and Alexandra’s favorite part was the quiet time they spent together in the 1930s Chevy Buick. They hugged, kissed, and read their private vows. Later, they took private photos in front of the Roebling Bridge, some of her favorite shots. They were both surprised with a custom sign on top of The Madison Theater and their two pups, Sammy and Gwyn, waiting for photos as they made their way to the reception.
The reception was intimate and beautiful, with floral arrangements paired with taper candles, chocolate martinis and bourbon bar, and a wedding cake topped with figurines of Sammy and Gwyn. Before they knew it, it was time for the dances. Matthew and his mom danced to “You’ve Got A Friend In Me” by Randy Newman and then came the father-daughter dance. Alexandra and Matthew had taken dance lessons three months before the big day, and Bree was excellent to work with! She choreographed their first dance and the father-daughter dance. As the dance ended with her dad, Alexandra entered their first dance, “L-O-V-E” by Nat King Cole. The guests loved it, and Matthew was thrilled.
Throughout the night, Alexandra and Matthew danced hand in hand, surrounded by loved ones who gave them compliments and support. Guests said the ceremony was the most memorable ceremony they had ever witnessed; the food and bar services were phenomenal, and the reception was the best part of the year. They both felt incredibly grateful to everyone who helped make their big day everything they had ever hoped for, especially Alexandra’s father, who supported her throughout the wedding planning process, even as Matthew lived in Washington, D.C. (he moved back to Kentucky three months before the wedding!).

Alexandra’s

Bridal & Formal Experience

Wow, what a fantastic experience I had at Bridal & Formal! As a walk-in customer, I still determined what to expect, but the staff was incredibly accommodating and welcoming. I had come from another bridal shop that didn’t have the style of dresses I was looking for, but Bridal & Formal had precisely what I needed to find my dream dress.
Bobbi, my consultant, was an absolute delight to work with. She made me feel beautiful and understood exactly what I wanted. She paid close attention to all the details of my wedding, which put my mind at ease. I can’t wait to show off my gorgeous dress to everyone!
