Luke and Abby’s story began in early 2018 when their lives crossed paths at the University of Kentucky. Abby was a fourth-year dental student finishing up her specialty rotations, and Luke was a first-year oral surgery resident and newcomer to horse country. While both were at the University of Kentucky, they hit it off at various school events and provided patient care together. Abby remembers assisting her future hubby with surgery at the dental school for the first time. Little did she know that the cute new resident who allowed her to perform her first frenectomy would later become her husband. Abby and Luke realized they had many things in common during that surgery. Both were washed-up collegiate soccer players who had an odd obsession with digging in people’s mouths. Shortly after this romantic encounter, Luke joined the UKCD co-ed indoor soccer team, where his and Abby’s friendship grew. Abby, the lover of all things Kentucky, introduced Luke to all the joys of the Bluegrass State. Luke quickly learned that horses were meant for betting on, UK basketball was religion, and there are more bourbon barrels than people living in Kentucky. Luke easily assimilated into the horses, bourbon, and basketball culture.
Just as the couple’s relationship began flourishing, Abby moved to Nashville to take on everything that Music City had to offer. Fortunately, Luke could visit many weekends with his medical school schedule. Anytime Luke visited, Abby made sure to drag him down to Broadway to soak up all the live music and dancing they could. Over the next three years, the two took turns traveling up and down I-65 to see each other every chance they got. Even though Abby and Luke were separated by hundreds of miles during the week, their relationship grew stronger.
In the Spring of 2021, Abby left NashVegas and moved back to Lexington to be closer to Luke and her family. On April 24th, Luke managed to pull off the biggest surprise yet. Luke finally proposed on a cool Spring day at Equus Run Winery after the two enjoyed an intimate wine tasting. It was the perfect ending to their beginning.
Snowy white wedding with a formal ceremony at Centenary United Methodist and the reception at the Keeneland racetrack. The wedding party got ready in the Presidential Suite at the Marriot City Center in downtown Lexington. Following the ceremony, we had a cocktail hour with an introduction of the couple by the famous Keeneland bugler. We began the reception with a choreographed first dance, thanks to Arthur Murray Dance Company. The reception dance floor was filled the entire night thanks to The Company Band. Luke and I had a sparkler exit before entering the vintage Bentley that took us to the Kentucky Castle for our night’s stay.
Lacrecia was amazing! She knew my vision and style immediately! She even helped me find the veil that my sister will be using at her wedding.
