In Spring 2017, Austin and I found each other in a mutual love of tacos, books, and parks. Our friendship and connection kept growing, and I told Austin how I felt about him while studying in Italy.
A two years later, when Austin and I took a vacation to Phoenix, Arizona, we took a road trip up to the Grand Canyon. The temperature dropped from 90 to 25, and we were not dressed for the weather change. So, Austin and I kept warm by running from building to building until the sun came out and melted the ice. I started recording a canyon video when we went out on the Rim Trail and turned to see Austin on one knee! I was so excited and said, “Yes!”
Our wedding was on a beautiful Saturday on 4/3/21! We love traveling and are generally goofy and fun together, so we wanted a theme that matched us as a couple. Our theme was travel/ Disney Up. Each table was a different country with an extra color lantern, and we would play a love song in the native language of that country for that table to get food at dinner. There were colorful balloons in the entryway, and there was a giant balloon wall for photos! Our bridesmaids were each in a different bright color, with the groomsmen’s bowtie matching them. The girls had white sola wood bouquets with an atlas rose in each, and the groomsmen had sola wood boutonnieres. My bouquet looked like an explosion of color. My earrings were rainbow feathers – a nod to Kevin in Up and matched our overall color scheme. Also, we are not a big fan of tradition, so instead of a bouquet toss, I had a vase of roses at the exit for each of my guests to take a bit of love home with them.
One of my favorite moments was my first dance with my husband, Austin. Our dance lessons with our instructor at Live Love Dance were the only date night out we had during quarantine. We always looked forward to it and somehow learned the Viennese Waltz and surprised all our guests at our wedding!
My experience with Bridal & Formal was terrific, and all the staff was so accommodating! I am from out of town, and I came back a few months after I bought my dress with my mother-in-law because she couldn’t be there when I was first shopping. The staff still made it special for us, and I was able to try on my dress again for her.
I loved my sales consultant, Molly! She was so much fun and made the daunting process of picking a dress so much more enjoyable! Everyone in my group still talks about what a joy she is.
