We met through a mutual friend. Zach was a tennis instructor and just happened to give tennis lessons to my work friend’s little brother. She had asked him if he was single, and he said yes. She said I think I might have the perfect girl for you. She showed him my picture and gave him my number, and we began texting. Our first date was at Cooper’s Hawk in Indy. We did a wine tasting with my friend and her husband to “break the ice,” and then we had dinner ourselves. We went bowling afterward and laughed the night away. We were “official” within a few months and lived together within 5 months.
We bought our first house together at 9 months. As far as the engagement, it wasn’t really anything special. Zach isn’t much of a romantic (but still perfect to me). We were riding in a car on our way to vacation, and he said, how does 5/10/20 sound? I was like, what? He said for our wedding day. And I was like, “Is this a proposal,” and he said “yes,” and then I said, “do I get a ring.” He said, “well, yes, I’ll even let you pick it out, J” He’s a number guy, so he loved the date. Unfortunately, we realized this date fell on a Sunday and Mother’s day due to the leap year. Hence, we opted for 5/16 (which we also had to change due to COVID). I got my ring within a few months.
Unfortunately, due to COVID, our wedding was postponed from 5/16/2020 to 7/18/2020. Many of our guests could not attend due to the date change or the fear of COVID 19. However, it was still such a perfect day even though it was super-hot!! Our colors were dusty rose, navy, and gold. Our ceremony was in a pasture area behind the barn where our reception was located—such a beautiful venue. We wrote our own vows, which made the ceremony extra special. We had a wonderful time during the reception. I went down to Nashville and recorded the Daddy/Daughter song that we danced to for my dad. I used to sing in a band with him when I was younger, so I thought this would be a way to surprise him. The entire venue was crying, even the men. It was so special. The song was called “Daddy Dance with Me” by Krystal Keith. Zach and I danced to Thomas Rhett’s “Sweetheart” song, and at the end of that song, we picked it up with Luke Comb’s “Lovin on You” to make it more fun! We had so much fun dancing the night away.
I loved everything about Bridal and Formal. It was super easy to schedule an appointment, and once we arrived, we didn’t have to wait at all. All of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. They all seemed just as excited about finding my dress as I was.
Jen was absolutely amazing!! She allowed me and those I brought with me (My sister, mom, and mother-in-law) to pick out dresses that we liked and then began trying them on. Jen was super helpful with trying things on and was just so sweet and personable. We chatted about life, and she just made me feel super comfortable. I only had to try on 3 dresses to find the one.
